Blue Rodeo keyboardist Mike Boguski's free performance at Thunder Bay, Ontario's Grace Place shelter space brings the 'healing joy of music' to those in need. Concert tickets can be costly, especially for those on fixed incomes, so Boguski is bringing his talents to shelters, food banks, and outreach centers across the province as Blue Rodeo tours. This 'tour within a tour' aims to offer free performances and provide a reprieve from the burdens faced by those in need. Grace Place, which serves about 300 free meals a day and offers a seasonal shelter program, was thrilled to host Boguski's performance. The organization's operations manager, Melody Macsemchuk, expressed her gratitude, stating that it brings clients 'alive' and allows them to experience the healing joy of music. The performance was met with positive reactions, with clients like Robert Esquega, a member of the Red Rock Indian Band, expressing their enjoyment of the positive and upbeat sound of the piano. As temperatures drop, Grace Place is in need of donations of warm winter wear, such as jackets and socks, to ensure that no one is left outside in the cold. The organization also accepts monetary donations and small grocery items, which are either distributed to clients directly or incorporated into their in-house meals.
